Assault Marines and More

Today's feature is a squad of Assault Marines for my Daemonhunters/Space Marine army. These are the old metal assault marine models from many years ago. I got them in a trade from a friend a few years back and have finally gotten to them. To be fair I did start painting them a couple of years ago but life kind of pushed these to the back burner. My friends and I are going to be starting a 40K campaign in the coming weeks and this is the army I will be playing so it was time to get them done.

Careful examination will show that there are a number of different parts on these models. I hesitate call them conversions but I guess they are. I used a number of parts from the new plastic Chaos Space Marines as well as some bits from the original plastic Space Marines. Take note of the pistol bayonets on a couple of the models.

I also added a Chaplain with a Jump Pack to lead these guys. This is another old model that has been slapped together with some Khorne Berzerker bits and a metal jump pack. This figure has a few layers of paint and is starting to loose some detail but I think he still looks good.

This model will nor be used in the Daemonhunters army but he will be an HQ when played as a straight Space Marine force. I have several more items in the queue for this army. Next up will be the new Terminator Librarian model (if you are not familiar with 40K Librarians are very dangerous not like our modern librarians). I also have a couple of the plastic Terminator from the new box set. These are the ones that will be included in with this month's White Dwarf. The first battle in our campaign will involve Terminators so I need to get these done soon.

Messin' With the Template

I have been working on some changes to the old blog. I have really been liking the 3 column look that man blogs have converted to so I thought I would join in the fun. Turns out it is kind of a pain. The thing that is killin' me is trying to get the center section to be centered in between the left and right sidebars. As you can see it is shifted to the left and I cannot fins a way to fix it.

I have also reduced the number of posts on the main page and I am thinking I still need to shorten it some more. My post tend to be image heavy and so they tend to be long. This make the first page very long and stretched out.

I still have some more work to do. If you know anything about these templates take a look at the source code and tell me what I have missed. I would really like to get this centered up.

28mm Fallschirmjager Figure Comparison Part 2

Here is a follow-up to my previous post comparing different Fallschirmjager figures. Sometimes it is tough to see how well figures work together by looking at the bare metal so I thought I would paint the same three figures to see how they look. I think they look even better together painted.

US Infantry

Here we have 39 US Army soldiers painted in just under a week. Obviously speed painted and dipped but I think they look OK. I needed to get these done for an Italy 1943 camapign that my friend Tim and I will be starting soon. I really only need the weapon teams but I figured I might as well paint them all while I have the paint out.

This first group is the contents of the Crusader miniatures US Army box set. Twenty-four figures that i will use to fill out my platoon HQs and create a Company HQ.

Next is the .30 cal LMG teams.

And finally we have the 60mm mortar teams. With these done I now have almost a full strength US Infantry company - about 130 figures. All the figures are from Crusader and are very easy to paint. They are a great deal from Crusader Miniatures USA and if you are a memeber of the Old Glory Army you get an additional 40% off!

Minotaurs!

Well i missed the Aug.1 deadline but not by much! This unit of Minotaurs puts be slightly above 500pts for our challenge. These were a blast to paint! The minis are a little hokey looking but they sure were fun to paint.

I need to create a banner for the standard bearer. I haven't given it much thought but it should be faily easy. I might just copy one from the codex and color it.

I have another unit of Minotaurs for this army but I don't think I will be painting them soon. Next level for the cahllenge is 750pts. For that I will do my Brey Shaman and probably add command elements to the Beast herds.
